In
an effort to provide better support for our foremen in the field,
TWR sent the Office Field Support Team out onto a jobsite for a
first hand look at a project in progress. The OFS team is behind
the scenes and responsible for making sure the foremen have all
the tools, materials, machines and paperwork necessary to run a
project. This “Field Trip” gave the team a first hand
opportunity to familiarize themselves with all aspects of the jobsite.
Furthermore, it allowed each team member the ability to associate
what they see on paper into a physical piece of hardware or procedure.
Familiarizing each team member in this way allows for better understanding
of the entire process and how their individual work can affect an
entire project…good or bad.
The OFS teams’ day consisted of walking a jobsite
and visiting each phase of construction that TWR is responsible
for, from layout to framing, fall protection to pickup and fine
tune, the team saw all of their hard work in action. They were able
to see the different kinds of lumber and the ways in which it is
used on the job site, how standard options are marked out and snapped
into the home prior to framing & why it is so important to process
any order a foremen makes within the time table he requests.
The team was also able to see how involved the job of an on-site
fork lift is and how getting a downed machine up & running again
is always a priority The team watched the company’s fall protection
in action as framers stacked and secured 9 trusses in place, in
9 minutes. Next the team did a roof walk and watched as one worker
quickly navigated the floor joists to glue down the floor sheeting,
which would later be nailed and screwed into place. All in all the
team learned why it is they do what they do, and why it is so important.
TWR’s commitment to building an entire process that works
every time is based on efforts like this, keeping all the pieces
integrated and educating every department that affects the end mission
is our goal. |
