TWR Celebrates its 20th Anniversary
There is a method to our success. To make it all work, TWR has succeeded in implementing something we call the five phases of success into every project, large or small.
Using this process, we ensure that for every challenge that we might encounter, there are 1000 other small details that go off without a hitch. When we do encounter a challenge, we know right where to look in the process to overcome it.
• Value Engineering
• Estimation
• Staging
• Building
• Customer Aftercare
We have learned over the past 20 years that if we take a shortcut in that process, we can only look forward to more challenges than payoffs. That is why each job receives the same attention to detail, the same set of
parameters and the utmost precision in project management.

TWR Employee Profile
George Dawald, Project Manager
It’s all in the relationships….
Project manager George Dawald has been with TWR since the company’s founding 20 years ago. In fact, George started in the business with Mike Rhodes, the father of TWR’s founder and President Tom Rhodes. As the son of a carpenter, George says that the framing business is a significant part of his life, not just a job.
Dawald is one of six TWR project managers, working directly with his own client list of builders, serving as their main contact during the initial phase of their framing job. He bids their plans and fields their questions on pricing issues and keeps track of the job until the end.
Throughout his lengthy career with TWR, Dawald has been fortunate enough to work in most areas of the business. With his past experiences in the field and as the previous director of field support, George has also done a good deal of purchasing for TWR. “My contact within each builder’s organization is their purchasing agent,” said Dawald. ”I understand their responsibility to secure the best price, and I always strive to deliver the best value possible.”
“Building relationships is the essence of my role as project manager,” said Dawald. ”In addition to establishing and maintaining strong connections with my builders, I have also invested a lot in developing long term relationships with my suppliers. It is because of both of these relationships that I am able to negotiate favorably for my clients.”
“TWR has been a great company to work for and to grow with,” said Dawald. “The staff is very loyal, with many employees having been with the company for many years. TWR has been like a family to me, and I value the close relationships I’ve developed here.”
TWR Safety Training – Fall Protection and
Nail Gun Safety
Safety is a large concern for the building industry. Builders and subcontractors are constantly making changes within our own programs to accommodate the changes in the regulations that OSHA imposes. TWR Enterprises, Inc. is continuously striving for excellence and in order to accomplish this we must have a quality safety program.
We are continuously updating our programs and training to educate our supervisors and employees. Recently there have been changes in the industry with regards to fall protection for framers. This is one are where our resources have been focused on education, training and enforcement. A recent study has indicated that nail puncture wounds are a leading accident among construction workers and TWR is taking an active approach to re-educating our employees on the proper use of nail guns as well as the proper care of their equipment.
In addition to these training topics we also conduct weekly tailgate meetings at each jobsite on a variety of issues – housekeeping, first aid, hard hats and safety glasses to name a few. TWR Field managers conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and in addition we have an outside safety consulting firm, Safety Compliance Company, which also conducts jobsite inspections on a regular basis. Each day we are making improvements within our program to make our work environment safer for everyone.

Growing number of Female Workers
on the Jobsite
Growing number of women on the jobsite
TWR has begun to see an increase in women working as piece workers on our jobsites.
For many years there have been female employees on our jobsites, however, in this last year that number has grown to nearly 100. These women are working as laborers, doing hardware installation, assisting with paperwork, plus various framing tasks. As the industry changes and grows, there are more opportunities for woman in the construction industry. Historically framing has been primarily a male work force, however recently, we see more women pursuing careers in this field.
To find out more about the changing demographics of the construction worksite visit The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) at nawic.org.
